BUILT BY INTERVIEWERS
DESIGNED FOR PILOTS

You have the ratings and hours. But is it enough?

Aviator Intelligence can get you there.

OUR MISSION

Aviator Intelligence exists to give pilots what the industry won't. Real insight into how hiring decisions are actually made.

Our program was built by seasoned airline, corporate, and Air National Guard recruiters, each with over a decade of experience on the other side of the table. We've selected the candidates who now fly the line, and we've seen exactly what holds good pilots back and what pushes great ones forward.

We don't teach scripts. We teach strategy, preparation, and the professional edge that gets you noticed, selected, and hired. From your resume to your application to the interview itself, we prepare pilots for every stage of the process. If you're ready to outpace the competition, we're here to help you get there.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Ernie "Big Ern" Meeks

Founder & CEO, Aviator Intelligence

Ernie Meeks has spent his career on both sides of the interview table.

As a Boeing 737 Captain for Southwest Airlines, he brings firsthand knowledge of what it takes to fly the line at a major carrier. But it's his experience on the other side of the process that sets him apart. With over a decade of interviewing and selecting pilots at the major airline level and within the Air National Guard, Ernie has evaluated thousands of candidates and seen exactly what separates the ones who get the offer from the ones who don't.

His aviation career started early — flying lessons at 15, a Commercial Multi-Engine license and CFI certificate by 18. After graduating from Arizona State University, Ernie was commissioned into the United States Air Force, where he graduated as a Distinguished Graduate from both Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance AFB and C-5 Galaxy training at Altus AFB. He went on to serve in the Arizona Air National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, KC-135 Command Pilot, and Director of Operations.

Ernie founded Aviator Intelligence with one goal: give pilots the preparation, mentorship, and insider perspective they need to walk into their interview ready — not guessing.

"Your dream of becoming an airline pilot is within reach — my goal is to help you get there."

THE COACHING TEAM

Aviator Intelligence isn't one person — it's a team of veteran aviation professionals who have spent years making real hiring decisions. Our coaches bring direct experience as airline interviewers, pilot recruiters, and military selection board members. Every coach on this team has sat across the table from candidates and knows exactly what gets evaluated — and what gets overlooked.

Capt. Dustin Benker

COO, Aviator Intelligence

Dustin brings over two decades of aviation experience across military service and commercial operations, with more than 15,000 flight hours in six aircraft types. A USAFA Class of 2000 graduate, he served as a KC-10 aircraft commander, T-1 instructor pilot, and KC-135 evaluator pilot, eventually rising to State Director of Operations for the Arizona Air National Guard. He is a Captain at a major airline flying the Boeing 737 and leads operations and coaches pilots through the hiring process at Aviator Intelligence.

Capt. Steve Hutchinson

Director of Training, Aviator Intelligence

Steve brings over 30 years of military and commercial aviation experience, including more than a decade as a pilot interviewer at a major airline, where he's evaluated thousands of candidates. A retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel with a background in combat operations, he's also led pilot selection boards for the Air National Guard, choosing candidates for Undergraduate Pilot Training. That dual perspective in airline and military hiring is what he brings to every coaching session at Aviator Intelligence.

FO John Scharf

Aviator Intelligence Coach

John spent five years on a regional airline's pilot interview board, evaluating over 500 new-hire candidates. His career spans flight instruction, regional and major airline flying, corporate aviation in the Middle East, and serving as Director of Operations and Chief Pilot for a Part 135 operator. That breadth of experience, combined with firsthand knowledge of how interview boards actually evaluate candidates, is what he brings to Aviator Intelligence's coaching.

FO Joni Thiesse

Aviator Intelligence Coach

Joni brings over 18 years in the airline industry, including several years as a regional airline pilot recruiter and interviewer where she helped shape hiring decisions firsthand. Her background spans flight instruction, time-building, and leadership across multiple airline roles before joining Southwest. At Aviator Intelligence, she coaches pilots on career progression, application strategy, and showing up to interview day with confidence.

FO Tyler Bennett

Aviator Intelligence Coach

Tyler built his foundation as a flight instructor in Arizona, training students bound for the airlines and the United States Air Force. He served as a pilot interviewer at a regional airline and evaluator, assessed hundreds of candidates and gained firsthand insight into what airline recruiters look for. He now flies for a major airline and coaches pilots at Aviator Intelligence on presenting their strongest, most competitive selves in the interview process.
