Flight Training

Frontier Airlines conducts all new-hire and recurrent pilot training at its state-of-the-art Training Center in Denver (DEN). Every month, classes of roughly 60 pilots begin a streamlined program that moves quickly from company indoctrination to Airbus A320-family systems, fixed-base procedures, and full-motion simulator sessions. Because Frontier’s fleet is entirely A320-family (A320, A320neo, A321, A321neo, and forthcoming A321XLR), new hires earn a single Airbus type rating that covers the entire fleet and supports seamless movement between aircraft as needed.

  • Frontier Airlines has a training contract for new pilots. As of May 1, 2024, new-hire pilots are required to sign a Training Cost Repayment Agreement, committing to a two-year tenure with the airline. If a pilot leaves before completing the two years, they must repay a prorated portion of the training costs, estimated at $59,190.
  • Uniforms, iPads, and hotel accommodations are provided throughout the program.
  • Training pay follows the normal hourly pay scale with Frontier’s 75-hour monthly guarantee (line holder and reserve).
  • Line bidding begins as soon as IOE is complete, and pilots can bid any of Frontier’s expanding domiciles, including new bases CLE, CVG, ORD/MDW, and DFW.
  • Recurrent and continuing-qualification events are scheduled annually and use the airline’s advanced Airbus EBT/CBT curriculum to keep crews current on procedures, low-cost-carrier efficiency, and Frontier’s emphasis on on-time performance.

With more than 500 pilots hired in 2023 and a fleet slated to grow to 211 aircraft by 2026, Frontier’s training pipeline is built for high throughput and quick upgrades—giving new hires a clear, contract-protected path from right seat to captain.
